Is your next contract already filtering you out?

The SIA is testing the digital portal behind Martyn's Law — a signal that security procurement is shifting from paperwork to infrastructure and evidence. Here's what that means for the £100k–£20m bracket.

This week, the Security Industry Authority (SIA) announced it is testing the digital portal that will support the rollout of Martyn’s Law.

For some, that sounds like another regulatory update. It is more significant than that. It signals a broader shift already underway in security procurement: compliance is moving from paperwork and process to infrastructure and evidence.

A serious commercial conversation

We need to have a serious commercial conversation about how security services are procured in 2026.

If you operate a security business in the £100k–£20m bracket, you might still believe that winning higher-value contracts comes down to relationships, reputation, and having highly capable people on the ground.

Those things still matter. But increasingly, they are not where the decision starts.

Filtered before anyone sees your work

Modern procurement increasingly begins with digital gateways: Pre-Qualification Questionnaires, accreditation frameworks, compliance platforms, and risk assessment systems. Before your operational capability is ever assessed, your business may already be filtered through documented evidence and verifiable processes.

If that evidence is inconsistent, incomplete, or difficult to demonstrate, you can create friction long before anyone sees the quality of your work.

Your operational excellence only creates commercial value if you can prove it.

The professionalisation gap

This is the professionalisation gap we need to address as an industry. Too many businesses still rely on legacy compliance models built around periodic inspection and box-ticking exercises, rather than embedding operational assurance into the day-to-day running of the business.

Built to challenge that approach

At Fisher Security Consulting, FSC Verified was built to challenge that approach.

We do not sell certificates to hang on a wall and forget about. We work collaboratively to help install a Combined Management System (CMS) that becomes the Operational Backbone of your business — creating the documented evidence, consistency, and audit trail that modern procurement increasingly expects, while improving day-to-day control.

The direction of travel is becoming clearer: competence and compliance are no longer separate conversations.

A capability that cannot be demonstrated can quickly become a capability that cannot be bought.

Be Verified. Be Compliant. Be Ready.

A data breach is existential.

In 2026, a physical security breach is serious. A data breach is existential. If you don't hold ISO 27001, procurement teams already know you're the weakest link in the supply chain.
